Electric Lighting for Horse Carriages

Recent visitors to Germany, and Berlin in particular, have noticed the large number of coupes and open carriages which are lighted with electricity. Many of these carriages are drawn by horses which have alectric lights fastened to their harnesses, either on the blinders (Fig. 1) or on some part of the collar… The Emperoro of Germany has twenty hunting carriages provided with a lamp at the end of pole. The storage batteries are easily charged before setting out. (Scientific American Supplement, 1895)
